Detailed Review

Fitbit-Surge-Fitness-SuperwatchIf you are looking for a fitness tracker watch, you may want to read some Fitbit surge reviews. Fitbit surge has tons of new features and is priced reasonably, according to the manufacturer. The latest version of the watch features an in-built GPS, real-time workout data and a heart rate monitor. Let us go ahead and take a closer look at the gadget.

Unlike Fitbit Forece, Fitbit surge has no problems like skin allergies. Because of its specification, the popularity of the gadget is on the rise. We will discuss all the main features of the device and give it ratings based on its design, usability, performance and value.

Design and display

Primarily, the Fitbit Surge is made for workout performance. The watch comes with a bigger LCD display and you can easily check multiple statistics on the display. We are not talking about the old single-line OLED anymore.

The screen measures 1.25 inches and lets you keep tabs on your heart rate, active minutes, miles and steps. While the display is black and white, it gives you all the information you need.

Usability

While Fitbit Surge features a touchscreen, you have three buttons on it. You can use these buttons to set workout timers, GPS tracking and other functions.
I think the watch should have an option to let us check the current time after a bit, and it should also have more faces to choose from for the watch portion. Maybe the manufacture can issue an update to fix these flaws.

Below the watch band, you can find an optical heart rate monitor. At both ends of the strap, you have a sturdy wristwatch clasp, which is easy is fasten. The previous version of the watch came with a lose strap, and I almost lost my watch due to the looseness. Thanks to the manufacturer for removing that flaw from this version.

Performance

most-popular-Fitbit-FlexAlthough the Fitbit Surge has a lot of advanced functions, the design of the watch is similar to the watches of 80s. Most reviews are of the opinion that the design is not fashionable but is considerably better than its predecessor. For the time being, you can only get your hands on the black version, but other two versions (tangerine and blue) will be introduced in the near future.

From half an inch from the wrist, the watchcase is about half an inch thick. On the other hand, the strap of the gadget measures one inch in width. The strap of the Fitbit Charge HR is 1.5 times less wide than Fitbit Surge.

Another problem with the gadget is that its big, rubber-coated lugs are hard to tuck into the shirtsleeve. This is another negative point of the Fitbit Surge.

fitbit-surge-box-contentsThe large frame of Fitbit Surge features as many as 8 sensors. That is why the watch looks a bit bigger for a fitness watch. However, the watch can track a whole host of movements in addition to the routine matrices of distance traveled, calories burned and steps taken of a fitness gadget.

For instance, take a look at the altimeter. With this feature, you can figure out the number of floors you climbed in a day. And the interesting thing is that you cannot find this feature in the most popular Fitbit Flex, which make Fitbit Surge better than other watches.

The GPS on Fitbit Surge is a new thing. With this powerful sensor, you can map your runs with Google Maps. At the same time, you can generate systematic graphics for calories burned, heart rate, pace and elevation.

You don’t need your phone for the satellite tracking of Fitbit Surge to work properly. You will be surprised to know that the said feature is not available on the most recent highly priced Apple Watch.

If you want motivation, there is no better way than track your runs with Fitbit Surge. You need a lot of motivation at times when you don’t feel like running or working out anymore.

As far as accuracy goes, the GPS tracking of Fitbit Surge is not perfect; however, the GPS errors are very rare, as far as my experience is concerned. The watch will raise your motivation level and you will be able to give your best.

Whether you want to track your runs with or without GPS, it can be done without any problem. What I mean is that you don’t need to mess with the screen or press a kind of secret pattern in order for you to get started.

The watch has a lot of features, such as stair climber, martial arts, walking, tennis golf, kickboxing, bootcamp, and circuit climber, just to name a few.
If you want to use your Fitbit Surge while you are on your bike, you may want to benefit from the Fitbit Surge firmware update. The new app comes with Multi-Tracker Support. Therefore, you can put on several Fitbits if you want to.

Value

Fitbit-Surge-firmwareOn Amazon, you can find the Fitbit Surge with a price tag of $246 plus free shipping. As far as price goes, the watch seems to be a bit expensive. There are a lot of running watches out there that cost less but are somewhat more reliable. However, the Fitbit Surge Fitness Superwatch has some features that cannot be found in other watches out there.

If you type “Fitbit where to buy”, you will see Amazon on top of list, where you can buy it at a very reasonable price, and you can enjoy excellent customer support if you choose to buy it from Amazon.

Rating 4.2 out of 5 based on 525 customer reviews. Interesting Face: 86% of reviewers would recommend this product to a friend. Great review from the smith family 103 people found it helpful. This is a pretty detailed review it should provide you with some more useful information 6.6 out of 10.

THE BOTTOM LINE All-day heart-rate tracking is a step in the right direction, but the smart features aren’t nearly smart enough and the fitness side of the Surge is too basic to justify the higher price.

Tech Radar

3.5 out of 5, the Surge is still designed to be worn on a daily basis. That doesn’t work out, because it’s shaped like a clunky running watch. It’s significantly bigger than every other Fitbit and doesn’t blend in with normal wear. That’s the price of having a built-in GPS, a touchscreen interface, a heart-rate monitor and automatic sleep tracking. Fitbit Surge is set up to fill the void between a fitness tracker and a real running watch.

Engadget

78 out of 100. the Surge solves some of Fitbit’s problems with better food and sleep tracking, while adding GPS and heart rate monitoring to the mix. But its bulky, utilitarian design and high price will limit its appeal.
