Amazon Rating:

On Amazon, the product has an overall rating of 3.5 out of 5.0.

If you are looking for the best activity tracker for fitness keeping other factors, such as price, style and comfort, you may want to go for the Jawbone UP24, which is one of the best of its kind. While I doesn’t come with a real display to show time, distance traveled and so on, it doesn’t have some awesome sleep features. In this Jawbone UP 24 review, you are going to read all what it takes to make the best buying decision. So, read on.

Design Jawbone

Jawbone UP24 is an updated version of Jawbone UP activity tracker. But the question is what can you do with it? Well, if you are looking for a device to help you find out
your performance during exercise, this one is for you. It helps you count the number of steps you taken on a daily basis and the amount of exercise you taken. Apart from this, there is more to it. The activity tracker lets you monitor sleep and walk you at the right time during your sleep cycle. While the original version needed to be plugged into the smartphone’s headphone jack for data upload, this one simply lets you do it with the help of Bluetooth 4.0 (BLE). So, this was a brief look at the basic features of this gadget. Now, let us take a closer look at the product from design, performance, usability and value perspective, so you can decide whether buying the product is worth it.

Design:

Just like with the first model Jawbone UP, Jawbone UP24 comes with the hypoallergenic TPU wristband, which is an open circle. All you have to do is stretch the ends of the band to open the circle, which is quite easy. As soon as the Jawbone 24 turns on, you won’t see the ends of the wristband sitting flat, which is no problem. However, it does look a bit ugly. As far as size is concerned, you have the option to buy it in small, medium and large size. But here in this Jawbone UP24 review, we are going to take a look at the features of the medium sized version of the product.

Usability:

Let us review its charging performance first. As a matter of fact, one major different between the Jawbone UP24 and the original model is the charging point. The original model came with a charging point with one of arms having a port at the end, which can be plugged into a headphone jack for synchronizing or recharging the gadget. images (1)However, in the new gadget, the charging point has the same design but is not supportive of a headphone jack. How do you recharge the device then? Actually, you can fit it into a USB connector, which can be plugged into a computer USB port. This is how you can recharge the device with ease. So, as far as charging is concerned, you will not have trouble.

Is it easy to sync the device? Well, in a way it is. But the method to synch this gadget with other device is a bit different. You need to use the Bluetooth 4.0 BLE  feature of the device for synchronization. You can use both iOS and Android. In the iOS devices, you can go for iPhone 4S/5, iPod Touch, iPad 3, iPad mini and all the device operating Android 4.3 or higher.

Don’t worry if it started raining while the gadget was on your wrist, as the gadget is water-resistant. However, you cannot just keep it on while swimming. It will stay safe if you drop it in water by accident but don’t just keep it on while you are in the pool. If you are looking for a tracker to track your performance while you are swimming, you may want to go for a GPS watch instead. You can get one for under $200, which is not a big deal if you are on a budget.

Performance:

I used the UP24 for a full week, and to be honest, I found it very accurate round the clock. You can get the idea by the fact that I walked for 1.05 miles (I recorded the distance with the MapMyRun app). The UP24 showed that I had a 1 mile walk. Considering the gadget doesn’t have a GPS, the measurement is very accurate.app jaw bone

Apart from the calculation of distance walked, calories burned and level of physical activity, the Jawbone UP24 can record and show your distanced walked in miles. But in contrast to the Fitbit Force, this gadget doesn’t figure the number of stairs you climbed. It doesn’t measure the heart rate either.

At times, the UP24 doesn’t give accurate measurements, in which case, all you have to do is recalibrate the gadget with its built-in calibration feature. Most other fitness trackers don’t have this feature.

The battery of the device is not visible because the gadget contains a lithium-ion polymer battery. Once charged, the gadget will last up to 7 days based on use. If you use it a lot, of course, you may need to charge it several times a week.

Value:

The product is worth a shot because of its comfortable design, accuracy and other features. If you want to spend a little money but want to get your hands on a good activity tracker, you may want to spend $97 and go for the Jawbone UP24.

As far as price goes, the Jawbone UP24 is as good as the Nike+ FuelBand SE. But the UP24 is arguably the best buy. It’s reliable, comfortable and reasonably priced, and gives you solid information as to your daily activity.

Mobile App
The mobile app for both the original model and the UP24 is the same. You can connect the app to other apps for better services. The app is not compatible with your desktop computer, though.

Verdict: “The Jawbone Up24 is one of the most inspiring fitness wearables that you can latch onto your wrist. It’s fashionable, lightweight design makes it easier to wear for a full 24 hours compared to its plain-looking, anchor-like competition. This doesn’t feel like you’re wearing a single handcuff. Better yet, the accurate activity and sleep tracking metrics make it useful both day and night.

It’s even more motivating when syncing all of this data to the bright-and-cheery Jawbone Up 3.0 app. Charting out steps and sleep quality explains where you’re making progress and where you’re letting yourself down. Your life is analyzed every swipe down to refresh.

The recent Fitbit Force recall makes the Jawbone Up24 the ideal choice among fitness tracking wearables by default. Even if that weren’t the case, this bracelet would have a slight edge given its more comfortable design, easier-to-read app and better accuracy, all of which drive a more informed if not healthier lifestyle.”

Bottom line: “The Up24 is Jawbone’s best wearable to date thanks to wireless syncing. It’s definitely worth buying over the older, lessexpensive Up band.”
